Holiday Weekend

Sorry I’ve been absent a few days! I wanted to enjoy this weekend as much as possible, since things will be quite crazy the next few weeks leading up to our reception.

Friday night Logan and I drove to Utica and had dinner at Hogs Hollow. It was absolutely delicious. We started off with the beer battered fried pickles, and then for my entree I had the baked mac n cheese topped with pulled pork and a side of hush puppies. Logan had the pulled pork & brisket with sweet potato fries and such. Our favorite barbecue sauces were the Motor City (made with Traverse City cherries and Vernors) and the Rock n Rye sauce. Mmmmm.

Saturday afternoon Logan and I spent in our favorite nearby city: New Baltimore. It is such a cute little place and right on Lake St. Clair! We had a fabulous baked brie appetizer at Fins and a glass of Grand Traverse Riesling 🙂

After lunch we walked over to Washington Street Wine House and bought a few bottles. Of course had to stroll down to the pier and admire the beautiful scenery.

Luckily, our apartment is situated in the perfect spot to watch the Algonac fireworks. It’s nice to be able to sit in the comforts of our own home and not have to deal with the traffic. Plus we were already “wine’d” up a bit 🙂
