Weekend Getaway-Ann Arbor!

In the 23.5 years I have been on this planet & living in Michigan, I have honestly never been to Ann Arbor before this weekend! A few weeks ago I bought tickets to Ron Whites comedy show and booked the hubby and I a hotel for the night. We had an absolute blast, and I can’t wait to head back and explore more when it’s a bit warmer out.

We started our evening by checking into the Holiday Inn off of Plymouth Road (about 10 minutes outside of the main city area). The hotel was quite nice! Very spacious room, a pool, and a wonderful bar & grill with excellent food and a nice live band. We had a couple pitchers of beer and nachos to start off. Logan had the ribs for dinner, and I had a grilled cheese & tomato bisque.

After a little nap and some freshening up, we took advantage of the free shuttle service and headed downtown early to have a few drinks. It was packed everywhere! We spent a little while at Bar Louie, where we had some fantastic drinks. Logan stuck with rum & coke, and I tried a fabulous smores martini and a couple vanilla java porters. Of course we had a few lemon drops!

We then made our way over to the Michigan Theater for the comedy show. It was absolutely HILARIOUS! And the theater is smaller than what we are used to, which was fantastic because there really isn’t a bad seat in the whole place.

Overall it was a fantastic little getaway. I highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn and utilizing their free shuttle service. The service stops running at 10pm, but there are plenty of cab services and Ubers in the area. There really is SO much to do and see in Ann Arbor!

  1. Great photos, looking awesome. AA is a great little town, and the place where I met my Californian wife the first time. The traffic around town can be fierce though… The martini looks delicious, and maybe smashing too. buzzzzz

      1. Uber is good. You may like to know that the cab companies here in Vegas fought tooth and nail to keep Uber out of here.

        Clark County finally approved them.

The cabbies have (had) a monopoly and reading the local threads it’s clear that locals have had it over their heads with the nasty drivers and filthy cabs. Three cheers for the competition. It’s all about the almighty dollar, right….
